Our after school programs are structured to build upon the ideas and principles found in our national programs. They are offered during after school hours. These programs are not only educational, they are also a lot of fun for the girls!

During our after school programs, classes change every 7 to 8 weeks. We offer an assortment of classes that range from crafts to self-defense. Flyers for all of the class sessions are sent to the local elementary schools.

Listed below are some of the National Girls Inc.® programs that are also available throughout the school year:


This class is for girls who have completed Kindergarten and up to 3rd grade. Girls become surgeons and operate on Zelda. They will also learn about their bodies.


This program is available through Girls Inc. of Omaha. Kid-Ability! includes comprehensive guides, journals and videos for kids, parents, and volunteers covering pertinent information about self-protection and sexual abuse prevention for children. Girls Inc. of Jackson County is providing this program through the collaborative efforts of Girls Inc., Oktoberfest Committee, Eagles, Division of Family and Children, Kids First Council, and Jackson County School Systems.


This is a class where girls develop sports skills by playing games and doing fun activities.


This is a sports class focusing on basketball, soccer, tennis and softball. Girls will learn basic skills for each of these sports.


This is a sexuality education program for girls ages 9-11. This program offers parents and daughters the opportunity to practice positive communication skills to deal with information and values related to sex and sexuality.


This is a sexuality and career exploration program for young women ages 15-18. It is a structured program designed to increase young women's educational opportunities and career planning skills as well as their motivation and resources to avoid early pregnancy.


A Sexuality Education Program for Girls Ages 12-14
Girls learn assertiveness skills and analyze peer and social pressure in this interactive program designed to encourage young teens to delay engaging in sexual intercourse. Girls Inc. of Jackson County is providing this program through the collaborative efforts of Girls Inc., Schneck Medical Foundation, and the Community Foundation of Jackson County.
