Girls Inc.^® of Jackson County inspires girls to become strong, smart, and bold through programs created to overcome the effects of discrimination and by its vigorous advocacy for girls.

At Girls Inc., we take programming seriously. It's far more than babysitting, or recreation, or keeping kids off the street. Our specialty is informal education, a systematic approach to the learning that takes place out of school. We combine the hands-on, experimental method with a conscious and articulated commitment to gender equity. The result is powerful programming that helps girls gain the skills, knowledge, attitudes and fortitude to support themselves, be leaders in their communities, and contribute to positive social change.

There's a great deal to know about Girls Inc. programming. What we do is not simple and there are no shortcuts to helping girls grow up to be strong, smart, and bold. Our programs are based on careful research about girls developmental needs and the issues they face in this society. Our approach to programming is the result of years of work by experts from affiliates, national staff and outside consultants. We are continually adding to our knowledge.
