During the summer months of June and July, Girls Inc.® of Jackson County is open for daily classes and activities.


Our summer hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.


Any girl who has completed kindergarten is eligible to be a member of our summer program. The membership fee is $25.00 and our summer center activities fee is $50.00. The activities fee includes daily activities at the center and any transportation from Brownstown, to the Seymour City Pool, as well as the Starlite Bowling Alley and the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts.


Lunch will be prepared daily and can be purchased for $2.00 a day. A lunch pass is also available for purchase during the summer program.


Each Friday that the center is open, there will be a field trip planned. Girls must sign up to go on these trips, and there is a small fee to attend the trips. For a list of field trips, please contact Girls Inc. at 522-2798.


Swim lessons will be held at the Seymour City Pool and there is a $20.00 fee for the 6 week session. Lessons will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:15 to 10:00 a.m. and from 10:10 to 10:55 a.m.


This program is for girls in grades 6 and up. Our "Counselors in Training" program is designed to give the participants leadership skills as well as to provide help to our younger members. Anyone that is interested should contact Girls Inc. of Jackson County.

In addition to the above mentioned programs, Girls Inc. of Jackson County offers a wide variety of classes that run throughout the day. There is never a dull moment at the center! Additional classes consist of:


One day each week, girls will walk to the Seymour Public Library. They will have the opportunity to participate in their FREE Summer Reading Program. For every 100 minutes they read, the girls will get a prize, up to a total of five prizes. Library cards are recommended.


This class is for girls who have completed 4th grade and up. The girls will form a mini-society with their own government, money and rules. This class encourages independent, creative decision making skills through hands on real world activities.


This is an economic literacy class for girls who have completed 4th grade and up. Girls will do fun activities to learn about money, the importance of saving, using a bank, check writing, filling out a job application/resume, jobs and salaries, etc.


This course will be offered to girls age 11 and up. The class will be held in July. This class has a cost of $25.00 to pay for materials.


This class is for girls who have completed Kindergarten and up to 3rd grade. Girls become surgeons and operate on Zelda. They will also learn about their bodies.


Girls will get to learn about gardens, flowers, the earth, and do fun experiment in this program!


This class is for girls who have completed Kindergarten and up to 3rd grade. This is an economic literacy class. Girls will learn about saving, spending, sharing and earning money. Girls will also learn what is valuable to them and their families.


This is a class where girls develop sports skills by playing games and doing fun activities.


This is a sports class focusing on basketball, soccer, tennis and softball. Girls will learn basic skills for each of these sports.
